Holy fuck this game is so good. I'm a little obsessed with this now.
If this ever gets packaged up as a mobile app for Android I will not hesitate to give you more money. Like, another $30 immediately. Ditto for another set of monsters to figure out or something. Hell, I'd pay/donate some amount of real Earth human dollars for ridiculously trivial cosmetic DLC like a second tile color or a secret unlockable second outfit for Jorge. That is how little of an excuse I would need to throw additional money at this game.
Great game! High score: 303, low (winning) score: 185. I think I've maxed the high score but not sure I've min-ed the low score. I don't think it's always winnable without luck but I could be wrong.
Excellent fun. Your website mentions you enjoy giving talks about game design. I hope you plan to discuss this game at some point; I think it would be super interesting.
296! Yeah so the score goes up the more you clear before killing the dragon. I had 3 walls left.
*More spoilers* (see the rest of my list below) - There's a dwarf or something you can find who takes 0 attack points but gives you 10 gold. - Always be exploring instead of cleaning up previous areas. - There's a 1 health wizard surrounded by 8 health gelatinous cubes, always on the edge as far as I know.
In my opinion, the hearts should be replaced with "attack points" or something like that. Because right now, at first I thought it's better to save as much health as possible, only later I realized its actually better to level up AFTER you've spent all your HP on monsters, since the gold dropped by monsters can have an overflow. So calling them attack points would make more sense - monster number is how many attack points to kill them, if you have less than that number - you die. And replace heart pickups with AP potions or whatever.
Yea I edited that part out when I noticed that myself.
However, I am not sure if there's a pattern every time. Do the question marks appear in EVERY block around the monster, or they have a chance to appear around them?
Also not sure if it's a 1 block or a 2 block radius, I think it's different each time
btw on my Macbook Air for some reason right click doesn't register (I have to hold ctrl+left click to get a right click in the OS) so having a key press as an alternative would be great so I could mark mines.
Hey Daniel, just wanted to say your game is awesome! Took me a bit to get the hang of it, but that's what made it so fun. Love figuring things out on my own. Keep up the great work!
Amazing, very well done addition to the Minesweeper genre. When I was a kid playing the original on Windows 98 I never would have expected there would be a whole category of Minesweeper games.
Some monsters have some special properties that make them easier to figure out. For example the wizard is always hidden within a ring of 8hp purple blocks has only 1hp and shows you all purple and green blocks and the 5hp aliens are in the center of ??-fields.
This is ONE OF THE BEST Innovative Gameplay of Minesweeper I've ever played and it's very satisfying to beat. I thoroughly enjoyed learning how to play the game just from failure and eventually beat the game several times.
The music is also very fun to listen to while playing - really makes me on edge to beat the Dragon (in a good way).
Thank for making a game like this, Daneil! I hope to see your future creations~🐱
This is brilliant! I'd love to see an expanded version of this, even if it's just different "rules" to figure out on different levels or something.
After I beat it, reading the comments made me realize that there were plenty of rules I didn't notice, so it's a testament to the game design that it was still a conquerable (although difficult!) puzzle.
A very logical game that can be beaten reliably without RNG or use of scrolls. For a real challenge, aim to get the LOWEST possible score. I'm currently at 185 , good luck gamers!
Amazing game. Need some time to fully understand it but I like games where you have to figure out something yourself which makes the progress much more rewarding.
One thing that I could not figure it out. I think the ultimate goal is to defeat everything beside the dragon. SPOILER I’m sure that the levelling up is the most crucial, so the key is to collect gold as fast as possible. Is it possible to clear everything without luck? I assume that the enemy with 0 health + 10 gold is the key but I could not figure it out how to defeat that as fast as possible, similar to 5 gold chest.
Rats will always face the blue rat, if a rat is standing it means that rat is on the same collom as the blue rat. The blue rat cant be on the edge of the grid and will always have 4 normal rats next to it. when the blue rat is killed it will drop a scroll that will reveal the location of all rats
The purple wizard will always be on the edge of the map and will be always surrounded by 5 big slimes. when killed it drops a scroll that reveals the location of all slimes.
Damn this game reminds me of a legend from catalonia that was about a warrior called Jordi who defeated a dragon (Jordi is Jorge in catalan). Pretty fire game I'd buy it if I had money
Love the game - still working on figuring out the monster patterns. I'd love an option to help track which monsters you've revealed (because they disappear once they are taken out). I created a spreadsheet to help me - but it'd be rad if the game helped.
I looked at your site and your social handles - is there a way to chip in some $ to you? I've played this enough that I feel like I should pay for it.
took atleast 10-20 games to understand what was going on, yet was intrigued enough to keep going, took about 3 days to get a win. Nice game, not sure if im; gona replay but was good distraction for a while. cool idea

I concur
Fully cleared the board.
Great game.
Amazing! (unless photoshop ;-p)
Great game! Love it :D
Good game

Kind of obsessed with this game rn. Thanks for making i
Great game!
got too excited and didn’t realize I ran out of HP lmao
Update: I did it, killed everything but a mimic, 293 score
Really fun and satisfying. The best take on an expanded minesweeper I've played so far. Great job.

303 score, believe that's the max :)

As far as I know the question marks are around the 5hp alien monster
Yea I edited that part out when I noticed that myself.
However, I am not sure if there's a pattern every time. Do the question marks appear in EVERY block around the monster, or they have a chance to appear around them?
Also not sure if it's a 1 block or a 2 block radius, I think it's different each time
It’s a pattern every time - it’s a diamond in a 2 block radius. Once you kill the monster, the ?s go away.
There can be a maximum of 3 beholders.
So it is not a square around them, but a diamond? Huh
correct. The cardinal directions are two ? and the diagonals only 1 ?
Spoilers for others still figuring out the game
It's two block radius. One block in all 8 direction, and two blocks orthogonally
correct
btw on my Macbook Air for some reason right click doesn't register (I have to hold ctrl+left click to get a right click in the OS) so having a key press as an alternative would be great so I could mark mines.
Cool!!

First time beat at score 186
I am addicted to this game
Amazing, very well done addition to the Minesweeper genre. When I was a kid playing the original on Windows 98 I never would have expected there would be a whole category of Minesweeper games.
Feature request: pressing number requests or * inserts that number or mine-marker
Yes! Finally! Cleared the board; got 303 points. Is that the max?
its pretty cool but I dont see how I'm supposed to progress past like 7-8 hearts without sheer luck

Excellent game Daniel! I finally beat it and can go to sleep at 2:30am. Score 188. Guessing I could have kept going before killing the dragon.
Spoilers:
- Look for the necromancer(?) when you have 11 health.
- Look for the middle of the question marks
- Look for the rat king
This is brilliant! I'd love to see an expanded version of this, even if it's just different "rules" to figure out on different levels or something.

Finally see a game contains minesweeper, liked it.

Finished with just two more points than you.
Cleared the board afterwards, it is possible

some info (spoilers)

The necromancer will always be in a corner space.
Also the Lvl 4 Green monsters will alwaus be in pairs and face each other
And the Lvl 5 Purple monsters will always be two and mark each tile two spaces away as "?" and the four corners around them.
And after being killed the necromancer will drop a scroll that will eliminate all Lvl100
You can also press D to enter developer mode and it will just show you where everything is =O
(^_^)
phew, took quite some time
and brainpower, but I made it lol, 207 score, btw is it possible to clear the whole board and slay the dragon?Damn this game reminds me of a legend from catalonia that was about a warrior called Jordi who defeated a dragon (Jordi is Jorge in catalan). Pretty fire game I'd buy it if I had money
Nice concept! Nice execution so far. Hopefully randomness/luck doesn't overtake skill.
Edit: Great to see the book is updated as you defeat foes. I was keeping track elsewhere.
oh i didn't realize the book updated the count as you played! HUGE help.
go play mineweeper
fucking rng
calm down
really cool
This is a fun mix on a classic game! Would love to see this expanded, feels like you could do a lot with this if you wanted
it no have noting classic only mineweeper
???????
Eyyy, finally beat it! One of my friends beat it in one night and it took me way longer, so maybe I'm just dumb, haha
Love the game - still working on figuring out the monster patterns.

You can see how many monsters remain... book has live numbers!
OMG thank you! I am sorry I missed that!
