Hey Daniel, awesome game!! You stuck gold with this one. My whole family has been playing it for days! Only problem is that there is no actual download for version 1.1.10 to play it offline. You might have to double check how your itch.io site is set up! Thanks a lot!
Hey, would you consider making some of the earlier versions available for download? This version has some cool enhancements, but the earlier version was really minimalist and refined. I imagined it as a genuine replacement for minesweeper in the future.
Playing for the first time. Game is phenomenal! Please make more levels!
I have been playing both versions now for a while and I have to say that the old version plays better than the new version. It's far more likely to run into dead end situations in the new version, which then requires you guessing blindly, which is never fun in a puzzle game. The old version felt better balanced that way. It felt close but I could always deduct the next tile to uncover with my remaining health. The difference is significant imho. maybe I am just hallucinating? will keep on playing and see how it goes.
There is some difference, the difficulty was re-balanced towards knowing more about patterns. In the old version even without knowing monster mechanics you could still deduce the placements with just numbers and math.
In the new version you still can most of the time, but now, if you want more consistent runs, you have to observe the monster patterns. The most important tip from the instructions/Monsternomicon is this "Observe monster patterns when dead".
When you will figure out more about monster patterns you will rarely run into a dead end even in this new version.
Hey! Ive been playing the game for a week now and I love it, but im not a fan of the latest version : im trying to download the 1.1.10 version of the game, available on the devlog, but im not able to download it for some reason ? does anyone knows where else I could get the file ?
same
Will the original version be available for download? Just to have the option?
After playing, I suggest that you change the trash can sprite in the "flag" menu for more clarity. I didn't know what it was the first time and still forget after the fact.
hi daniel can you update the download for 1.1.10? 1.0.0 is broken . stops at multi-colored lines with console message "The canvas has been tainted by cross-origin data." thanks!
Solution if you are on Mac:
1. Open the "Terminal" application. Enter the following text and press enter:
python -m http.server
2. Open your browser and go to:
http://localhost:8000/
You'll see your files and folders... click through to where your Dragonsweeper folder is that you unzipped. Click on index.html -- you should be able to play the game. It'll be the older version with the two orbs start.
For some reason this new version is not the download listed on the main page.
The broken walls are a really interesting addition. But I wonder if they highlight an issue in how the game conveys hidden information?
I assume that to avoid visual clutter, you don’t want to have fallen monsters all over the place. But equally, if you left dead monsters only where their position/orientation/etc was relevant, it might give away too much.
What if you had a toggle button or mouseover area on the bottom bar that just showed where the monsters you’ve killed were? It would allow players to make deductions without having to rely on remembering what they’ve killed. I guess an alternative would be a more elaborate marking system that could mark-up uncovered cells and distinguish between possible values and certain values (eg placing a purple 4 on two squares would denote the other gargoyle is here or here)
Fyi, Monsternomicon updates with how many monsters are remaining, so you don't have to remember that?
But it’s important in some instances to know where things were on the board — what directions mice were facing, whether you eliminated a guardian in a particular quadrant or not, etc. These are things that are easy to forget and the raw numbers don’t help to re-deduce them.
Woah, thanks for teaching me more about the game!
Awesome. I had fun in the old version, and had fun in the new one. I do not feel it is more difficult, so far.
I dislike the new version cuz it feels easier, i felt that the huge increase in xp needed was very fun to tackle and was great but now it feels like a farming simulater
Really? The new version has more 27 hearts more of common monsters (45 w/Romeo+Juliet) which is less blank spaces. Max hearts only goes up on odd levels.
The only thing easier is the new marking system, which is now much faster. Mid-game for me feels much slower, and I can't win consistently as with the original.
Can't download latest version. Just one change I'd really like is that Heart Scrolls show the number below them if I encounter them at full HP, but I guess that's part of resource planning! Won the previous version, so I'm trying to avoid Heart Scrolls for as long as I can. Tough that way.
i actually really dislike the challenge changes. all these higher tier uber games goin "this game is too easy" and then theres a normal human (such as myself) that actually really like the difficulty where it was. now it just feels like a guessing game, yknow?
Huh, the previous version was much better. It would be nice of you to create levels with different patterns, random encounters, enemies with synergies with other monsters, moving enemies and the like, but don't ruin the original experience. This new version is so so.
There seems to be some issue with the music on the latest version, it doesn't loop properly
is there a way to play without it filling the browser window? it's way too big now
Love the update! After playing the original 5-6 times I felt like I could pretty consistently get perfect score and was feeling a bit repetitive. With the update it requires a lot more ingenuity (and sometimes luck).
Love the new tile marking UI! New music is great, although the downtime between tracks feels like it last way too long.
Not sure how I feel about the difficulty increase. On the one hand, I feel like I had pretty much solved the previous version, so more difficulty is good. On the other hand, the game feels a tad more inscrutable now, like there are fewer paths to victory. The tighter HP and fewer initially revealed tiles makes the early to mid game feel a lot more cramped in general. I need to play more to process my thoughts.
