Found a bug! When the browser window is less than full screen width (~1000 pixels), the play area of the game is cut off and you can't see part of the screen. Made it very confusing in the comments seeing screenshots of a purple book that I couldn't see on my page!!
Would be lovely to have an X mark be the first, not last option for hints. I tend to mark mines more often than numbers and having to make 11 clicks is annoying as hell.
That said, I really loved the game! Clever and fun to play!
Great lil game! I love little games like this. I've played a ton of regular minesweeper so it was tough and fun to wrap my mind around how to look at the numbers and make determinations. Wanted to clear the whole board but couldn't quite! Got a 269.
I see people talking about the right clicking being aggravating, I can understand that. What about using the scroll wheel? Scroll wheel up to increase the number, down to decrease it? Still a great game! Great job and thank you!
Yes, agreed. I'd love to be able to have a key command to mark, either a modifier key to mark when clicked, or a keystroke that places a mark with the next click after typing it, or some other mechanism that doesn't rely on right click or a scroll wheel or anything like that. Because right now, I have to play without marks because it's so likely that I'll mistakenly click the cell instead of mark the cell. That, in turn, makes it really slow going because I keep having to recompute values.
In fact, it would be really nice to be able to play entirely with the keyboard, using the arrow keys to highlight tiles and key bindings to click or mark the tile currently highlighted.
Yep thats about the furthest you can go without loosing :D Yields a score of 278. got pretty unlucky to kill the bombs just in the super late game and therefore had to spent heals earlier.
Suggestion: Also allow shift-clicking as well as right-clicking to mark tiles. It's easy to accidentally click when trying to right-click on some trackpads or on one-button mice. I've died several times when trying to mark, and being able to hold down a modifier key to safely mark a tile would have been really helpful.
303! Incredible puzzle. Love the narrative progression of solving the dungeon via monster patterns. Very satisfying to keep clearing until max score. Would love to play an entire series of patterns in a larger game with a progression.
Absolutely fantastic little minesweeper game. Took me a bit to get the hang of it. For everyone saying it's RNG: I've not encountered a run where I needed to guess to win (out of about 10-15 wins). I set up a speedrun page if anyone else wants to try going fast https://www.speedrun.com/Dragonsweeper
Even managed to beat it without ever using a scrying orb or getting the mine clearing scroll :)
This game is so great. I beat it multiple times and I am missing a "replay" button to start a new game after you won. (instead of having to reload the page).
The game wasn't designed for mobile. It's not that easy to just add something to make it work on mobile. Also, that screenshot of the colors is also on desktop. That's just the loading screen.
Yes, I've played it on the computer and got 293 points. I think it's really fun! But it would be even better if there were a mobile version so that I could play it at work!
I seem to be completely unable to interact with the game. Clicking anywhere on the game screen does absolutely nothing, as does pressing keys on the keyboard. Usually the browser console would give some kind of hint to go off if something's going wrong but there's no errors of any kind, so I'm really not sure what the issue might be here.
not only is it a good idea, it's well executed! everything plays into the original cautious search of the original minesweeper, as well as the monster slaying action of dungeon crawlers. the fact that there are even mini boss encounters? will come back to this one from time to time
Incredible! The learning curve from traditional minesweeper rules up to defeating your first dragon feels so powerful and it's so well done!
At first it seems the information given in the monsternomicon is a bit overwhelming, then something clicks and you not only "get it" but start discovering there was even more that the monsternomicon didn't tell you! And it feels really like an adventure.
Things that made a click in my head and I was immediately kicking monster butt:
- Understand the level up and the heart scroll as 2 ways of healing and use them both ONLY when at 0 hearts, since the gems you get for klling monsters keep accumulating! - Don't focus on killing monsters at first, just like in minesweeper focus in finding empty cells by looking at the numbers, attack only when no other option available, when you need to lvlup or when you are powerful enough to kill a boss and get the reward.

I feel like that's a bug on itch's side
That's fair; I don't play lots of itch games, so this took me a while to sus out

+1 this. I stopped playing on laptop because eleven two-finger taps in a row is something I apparently mess up about 15% of the time.

right-click spam to mark can result in mistakes & a loss with touchpad
could use a keybind
yes please

Possibly a record for dumbest fail:
It's a fun, slightly addictive game. I enjoy playing it.

Amazing game and really addictive ! Took me a lot of retry but I finally won !
Great game.

At first I almost gave up, but then I understood how the game worked and couldn't stop playing until I beat it.
Too dense, how do I solve anything...OH, I'm SUPPOSED To fight the monsters. lol, AMAZING as soon as that clicked.
great game, but could you add another way of placing warnings, like using the numb-pad, I dont like to spam my right click.
Very interesting, just wish there was a better way to mark squares using left click. like a mini menu
Excellent game. Took me a while to figure it out, but once you get it, it's pretty engrossing. Well done.
Great game!
Wonderful game, took me a few tries to clear everythin

omg i got addicted to this game and after 3 days i finally won lol XD
awesome little game!
this is a great game, super fun, super addictive, it takes a few games to understand but it's intriguing enough to want to figure it out.
One question, is the goal to finish with a high score or a low score, what's the end game, least moves or most points?
fun, and addictive.
creative and fun!
Right click should put bomb first and then cycle to numbers I think.
That's my most used mark.
Same here. That would be a good change to an otherwise very good game!

Yeah, some of the patterns are not spelled out but they are quite important.
you didn't use orbs? wat??
This game is so great. I beat it multiple times and I am missing a "replay" button to start a new game after you won. (instead of having to reload the page).
I would now really love to have a bigger map.
even different shaped maps too perhaps?
Yes! Whatever enhances the game. :D
Great game!!!
Great game <3
Q. Did you make the initial decompression colours the same as the C64 palette on purpose? :-)
Yes!
I knew it! As soon as I first loaded it I saw that and got a good vibe.
This was fun. But it'd be nice to be able to mark tile with '11' since thats the power of strongest monster.
I would like to see more marking options in general.
lol
well from what I can tell, lich is always in a corner, so not that important.
Ohh, didn't notice, thank you.
I love this game, it was great

Yesss finally. Great game, obvs.
Improved to 303! I can finally rest, as long as the developer hasn't announced any updates on social media.
Enjoyed this a lot!
Really great game, I love anything and everything minesweeper.

are you on firefox? i was having the same issue at random points during play until i switched to edge :/
Yeah, I am. I guess there's something the game does that Firefox really doesn't like then.
I was able to play it on Firebox on a Max and a PC.

It's a nice twist on an old formula!
Playing it far more than I would like to admit :)
Incredible! The learning curve from traditional minesweeper rules up to defeating your first dragon feels so powerful and it's so well done!

Now to try and minmax the thing!
TIPS AND SPOILERS AHEAD!
Things that made a click in my head and I was immediately kicking monster butt:

- Don't focus on killing monsters at first, just like in minesweeper focus in finding empty cells by looking at the numbers, attack only when no other option available, when you need to lvlup or when you are powerful enough to kill a boss and get the reward.
Or when you need to reveal a certain area to progress.
A very bright idea! Nice work.
It's really fun and addicting but I wish there was a mode that didn't randomly spawn a wall of Questionmarks to fuck you over with zero information.
Edit: OK after finding out what the ? signify I managed to get a clear run with the score of 299.
I hoenstly think this game will be a hit if it hits the streamer alogrithm.
I don't profess to be an expert but I made a video with my tips and tricks and with two spectacular failures of how not to do it haha
